Expertise

At present, our research group is focussing on the following major themes:

1) Understanding the stability and substrate hydrolysis of enzymes involved in hemicellulose hydrolysis using molecular and biochemical approaches

2) Understanding the scientific rationale for the prebiotic action of manno-oligosaccharides and xylo-oligosaccharides in probiotic bacteria (human and food strains) using genomic and proteomic approaches

3) Deciphering of metabolic pathways involved in utilization of oligosaccharides in human probiotics using transciptomics approches

4) Deciphering the role of prebiotic oligosaccharides in modulation of gut microflora in diseased condtions

5) Utilization of nanotechnology to improve the properties of biomass degrading enzymes

Area of interest

Carbohydrate Enzymology, Protein biochemistry, Gut Microbiome, Molecular Biology and Heterologous protein expression, and Industrial Biotechnology
