Abstract

The present invention provides a device for making twisted snack product Traditionally, a snack product made out of the dough from roasted rice powder, black gram flour, salt and vanaspati is manually twisted prior to deep frying in oil. This procedure requires a certain amount of skill and is not possible by all. Hence a gadget to obviate the skill was developed. The device consists of a mechanism to push dough through a die which is made to rotate in certain proportion to the movement of the ram thus extruding the dough with twists. The twisted and formed dough is allowed to fall on a plate which is manually rotated to get a spiral product which is subsequently deep fried in oil. It is found that a skilled worker is able to make about 60-80 units per hour and the device is able to produce 190-200 units per hour, thus increasing productivity in addition to obviating the skill required.
